This is a small & budget alterations & additions project. Our client approaches us as the existing floor plan does not provide enough space for the family in the kitchen & the dining (also used as Workspace). So we are hired to rethink the layout, to redesign the kitchen and to create more space.

With limited budget, we stick to a very simple & flat box-like extension without altering too much of the existing structure.

 

We have chosen to use weatherboard because it's cost effective, but it also visually ties back to the round edged weatherboard of the existing home.

To add a little bit of fun into the design, we put in a little timber extrusion around the new window to give a bit of depth to the window; also as a reminder of the thickness of the existing window opening & the gable overhang.
